Since 2017, Julie has successfully secured nearly $80 million in grants for a diverse group of non-profit clients. Our firm has extensive experience writing complex grant applications from both foundation and government sources, including Department of Homeland Security/FEMA, California Office of Emergency Services, LA County Department of Mental Health, LA County Department of Public Health, U.S. Department of Justice, CA Department of Social Services, CA Department of Education, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, and U.S. Department of Education. Julie is widely regarded as a noted expert in the state and federal Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) under the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA, securing over $15 million for clients.

Local and state government advocacy in California

We understand that relationships are key to influencing policy that impacts nonprofits and their clients.  By developing relationships with elected officials and legislative staff, nonprofits are empowered to advocate for legislation and funding that impacts their communities and clients.  Julie Zeisler Consulting can assist nonprofit clients with their advocacy needs, including connecting clients to lawmakers and sponsors of legislation; developing lobbying materials; researching relevant legislation; and helping clients develop their legislative priorities.

Julie Zeisler is a strategic grant writer and government advocacy professional with 20 years’ experience spanning the public, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors. Leveraging diverse knowledge and relationships, Julie serves a broad range of high-profile organizations with a skill, reliability, and focus that yield measurable results.

Julie previously served as Executive Director of the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California (JPAC), the largest statewide association of Jewish nonprofit organizations in the nation. Under Julie’s leadership, JPAC secured nearly $100 million in the State budget for programs and legislation that benefits our State’s most vulnerable.

Prior to JPAC, Julie worked for former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, applying for and winning over $60 million in federal grants for the City of Los Angeles. She served as the Mayor’s liaison to both the Domestic Violence Task Force for the City of Los Angeles and the community policing and prosecutorial arm of the Mayor’s gang initiative. Julie began her career at Koret Foundation in San Francisco, awarding grants in the areas of higher education, the arts, Israel, and the Jewish community.

Julie has published op-eds in the Jewish Journal and the J Weekly. She has a BA in English from UC Santa Barbara and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from USC’s Price School of Public Policy. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
